When you enter the room where your grown child will live for at least a year (if not longer), it’s a blank slate. You can’t imagine the sensory deprivation those cinder block walls might cause. But remember — it’s not YOU who will be occupying this space. And it’s definitely NOT home to your child. It’s simply a place where he or she sleeps, studies, and learns a bit about being an adult.

Your bathrooms can look like 1996. Your carpeting might need to be 86ed, replaced with hardwood. But if all you do is take the time to remodel your kitchen from top to bottom; it’s likely an investment you’ll never regret.

Some employers have been hesitant give up control of their charges but seeing a need for work/life balance, finally began to give in, offering “work from home Friday.” Nothing, however, prepared them for 100% remote work caused by the pandemic. What about productivity? Tech support? Connectivity? Teamwork and meetings?

When people say nothing will ever be the same after 2020, they may be right. With the pandemic changing how we live in and enjoy our homes, it's entirely possible we will continue to make them serve us as never before.
